The company began as an aircraft engine manufacturer in the early 20th century and through World War I. BMW manufactured its first motorcycle in 1923, the R32, which featured a flat-twin boxer engine. BMW Motorrad still uses the flat-twin boxer configuration, but now manufactures motorcycles with a variety of engine configurations.

So Tom sent me a few new photos of his 1969 Triumph 750 triple landspeed bike last week. The first few shots are from last year when he showed up at the AHRMA Miller event in Tooele, Utah after shattering his own record earlier in the week. Tom set the record in 2007 somewhere in the 160 range with his slightly altered roadracer. In 2008 he built a new purpose built machine and bumped the record to 182 and change.
